Arthroplasty of the First Interphalangeal Joint of the Middle Finger

چکیده
Speaking generally, the treatment of fractures in country districts is very unsatisfactory in South India. Out of 165 fractures of the metacarpals and phalanges seen from 1930-37, 85 per cent were treated as sprains and contusions in mofussil hospitals and by bone-setters. The result of such treatment was very marked I functional disability. Any injury which occurs ! at the metacarpophalangeal or inter-phalangeal

Recurrent Dislocation of the Proximal Interphalangeal Joint of the Finger: A Rare Issue in Hand Surgery
Recurrent dislocation is not common in small joints. This report presents a new case of chronic recurrent dislocation of proximal interphalangeal joint of the finger in which soft tissue injuries have a role in the dislocation. The patient was a 23 years old man who had referred to our center because of recurrent dislocation of proximal interphalangeal joint of his right ring finger during spor...
متن کاملA case report of total finger joint replacement arthroplasty after traumatic amputation.
INTRODUCTION Joint reconstruction following trauma at the proximal interphalangeal or metacarpophalangeal levels remain a difficult problem in hand surgery. Function of the injured finger depends on the mobility and stability at these joints. In fingers amputated at these levels with joint destruction, the hand surgeon can perform either an arthrodesis or a replacement arthroplasty (either as a...
متن کاملMorphometric Assessment of the Residual Width of the Distal Hamate Articular Surface after Graft Harvest for Hemi-hamate Arthroplasty
Background: The hemi-hamate arthroplasty (HHA) can restore joint congruity and stability in chronic fracturedislocationsof the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ). Purpose of this study was to compare the width of the distalhamate articular surface (DHAS) to the width of the base of the middle phalanges (P2) of the fingers. We hypothesizedthe dimensions of the width of the D...
متن کاملExtension block pining for treatment of bony mallet finger
Abstract Background: The goal of this report is to show our results with extension block technique for treatment of mallet fracture. The indications for this technique were the presence of a large bone fragment, and palmar subluxation. Methods: We retrospectively assessed the results of treatment in 14 mallet fractures which have been treated by extension block technique to determine the ra...
متن کاملEffects of age upon the mobility of human finger joints.
Few measurements have been made of the frictional forces within living joints. Barnett and Cobbold (1962) recorded that the coefficient of friction at the distal interphalangeal joint of the middle finger in six healthy adults could be as low as 0 0075, a figure of the same order as that in excised joints (Jones, 1936; Charnley, 1959). Rydell (1965) measured, in a patient fitted with a hip pros...
